It’s the land, nature that inspires her; the open spaces, the quiet, and the beauty. She’s inspired by rural environments; old homes, farms and ranches with palpable history and beauty. When Jan is out on the land, around animals, she is immediately restored to peace, to wholeness, to an indescribable calm. For her, these experiences are nothing less than sacred. She strives to create paintings that reflect her inner experience. And when inspired, she paints Park City scenes and mountains.
The majority of her paintings are created with various brushes and palette knives and she paints in color layers and textures to express light, feeling and atmosphere.
